PORTFOLIO : Sony Pictures Television
Challenge
The business of television is surprisingly complex. Behind the scenes, Sony Pictures Television has many interdependent processes for managing rights, distributing marketing materials and calculating revenues. The goal for the project was to consolidate these activities into a single online portal, which involves communicating to the public, to partners and among employees. SPT wanted to streamline workflows to centrally manage content that could be published to multiple online locations. To make such a revolutionary change, SPT engaged us to lead the user experience and to provide a usable, branded look to the entire portal.
Process
- Partnered closely with Sony's internal IT arsenal
- Gathered business requirements
- Designed modular look and feel "skins"
- Extensive UI prototyping with user acceptance reviews
- Provided tested HTML and expert integration support
- Planning and execution of rollout campaign
- Seamless public site, extranet and intranet with single sign-on
Result
The portal framework has given Sony Pictures Television a structure within which to conduct much of its business. Over the course of 6 years, we've helped SPT transform dozens of disparate systems and offline processes into web-enabled portal applications. In 2006, BEA recognized SPT with its Liquid Portal of the Year award for its aggressive adoption of portal technology. Within Sony Pictures, SPT has served as a leading-edge model for other divisions that have also rolled out portals. We've been intimately involved with half a dozen of those projects, including a clean-slate revamp of Sony Pictures' global intranet.
